[논술短想] 논술 영어제시문으로 보는 삶과 죽음의 의미       - Life and death are fated - constant as the succession of dark and dawn, a matter of Heaven. There are some things which man can do nothing about - all are a matter of the nature of creatures. If a man is willing to regard Heaven as a father and to love it, then how much more should he be willing to do for that which is even greater! If he is willing to regard the ruler as superior to himself and to die for him, then how much more should he be willing to do for the Truth! The Great Nature gives me form, enables me to work in life, makes things easy in old age, and gives me rest in death. So if I think well of my life, for the same reason I must think well of my death.- (Chuang-Tzu, 장자 영역본에서 발췌/ 2010년 한국외대 수시 기출문제에서)   --- 의역으로 이해하기: 삶과 죽음은 끊임없이 지속되는 운명적 순환이다. 인류는 대자연이라는 거대한 틀 안에서 늙어가고 결국은 죽음에 이르는 순환을 반복한다. 이는 불교의 윤회사상과도 연결된다. 결국 인간의 모든 행동은 자연의 영역안에서 이루어지기 대문에 삶과 죽음은 시작이면서 동시에 끝이 되는 것이다.   --- 인문으로 이해하기: 장자의 이 어록을 통해서 인간의 삶과 죽음은 일체의 자연적인 순환의 과정으로 이해하면서도 개개인은 그 전체에서 부분으로서 변화를 겪게 되면서 우주라는 전체의 변화의 동기도 된다는 것을 의미한다. 다시 말하면 인간은 우주의 시작이면서 끝으로서의 존재성을 지닌다는 것을 의미하기도 한다.
